Flash&Go, Flash&Go Luxx, and Flash&Go Express FAQs

Q: Does Silk'n Flash&Go work?

Yes. In clinical trials held by physicians, Silk'n Flash&Go was proven to safely achieve excellent hair removal results. Silk'n Flash&Go has been cleared by the FDA for the removal of unwanted hair. In addition, Flash&Go is not required by the FDA to be used with other products.

Q:I have fair skin, why is the skin sensor warning light on?

Sometimes the skin sensor can be affected by the room in which you are treating. Treatments in a dark room or a room with a bright light (such as lamps and vanities) can cause the warning light to turn on. This is a result of a shadow being cast on your skin, making it appear darker than it really is. To prevent this from happening, treat in moderate lighting. If you continue to have a problem, make sure the sensor (located beside the yellow applicator light) is flush against the skin. If neither of these solutions resolves the issue, please call our customer service department at 1-877-367-4556.

Q:What are the Skin Color Sensor and other safety features?

Flash&Go comes with a built-in Skin Color Sensor that is designed to measure the skin tone of the applied surface and enable application only on suitable skin tones. This unique safety feature will disable treatment if your skin is too dark or too tanned, taking the guesswork out of treatment.

Silk'n Flash&Go has been designed with your safety in mind, and tested and approved by top dermatologists and plastic surgeons to meet their safety standards for a home-use device. But, like any skin product or electronic device, one must use it according to the operating instructions and user precautions.

The applicator tip of Silk'n Flash&Go has been designed so that a light pulse can only be emitted when the applicator is in contact with the skin. This eliminates the possibility of an accidental flash of light directed towards the user's eyes.

Q:How can I maximize my treatment results?

  1. Start with clean, shaven skin -NO WAXING/PLUCKING.

  2. Progress quickly to high energy levels - once you have tested all treatment areas on the low energy setting, we recommend you move up to higher levels.

  3. Schedule your treatments in two-week intervals. Typically you will see results after the 3rd or 4th treatment, and after this, you can start treating monthly.

Q:How many pulses or flashes does the Flash&Go have? That depends on which Flash&Go Unit you purchase.

The Flash&Go Original comes complete with one narrow lamp cartridge containing 5,000 pulses/flashes.

The Flash&Go Luxx comes complete with 120,000 pulses/flashes.

The Flash&Go Express comes complete with 300,000 pulses/flashes

Q:How long does a treatment session take?

The time can vary depending on the area of the body being treated and which Flash&Go Device you choose.

The Flash&Go original and the Flash&Go Luxx take the same amount of time to treat each body area. Two full legs can take up to 30 minutes or two underarms could take less than 10 minutes.

The Flash&Go Express is the fastest Flash&Go on the market. Two full legs can take up to 20 minutes or two under arms could take less than 7 minutes. Just remember, the device does not require batteries, it can be used for any length of time. You should never feel rushed to complete a full treatment of the desired area.

Q:How often should I use the device?

Treatment sessions with Silk'n Flash&Go should be spaced every two weeks for the first three to four sessions. After that, treatments should be done if hairs have grown back and until the desired results are achieved. The total number of sessions varies from person to person, but in general, most individuals notice a reduction after four treatments, with very good results after six treatments. Most females require eight full sessions. Males tend to have more stubborn and deeper hair and may require ten to twelve treatments.

Q:Is it effective on white, grey or blonde hairs?

Treatments work best on darker hair types or hair that contains more melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives hair and skin color, and absorbs light energy. Black and dark brown respond the best, although brown and light brown hairs will also respond, but typically require more treatments. Red may show some response. White, grey or blonde hairs usually don't respond as well to treatments. However, some users have noted results after multiple treatments. For more information on why certain hair types respond better than other please refer to the Silk'n Flash&Go instruction manual.

Q:Can I use Silk'n Flash&Go on dark brown or black skin?

Do not use Flash&Go on naturally dark complexion. Flash&Go removes unwanted hair by selectively addressing hair pigment. Varied quantities of pigment also exist in the surrounding tissue of skin. The quantity of pigment in a particular person's skin, which is manifested by their skin complexion, determines the degree of risk they are exposed to using Flash&Go. Treating dark skin can result in adverse effects such as burns, blisters, and skin color changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation). Many other laser and light devices, professionally and at home, also have the same restrictions on naturally dark skin.

Flash&Go comes with a built-in Skin Color Sensor that is designed to measure the skin tone of the applied surface and enable application only on suitable skin tones. This unique safety feature will disable treatment if your skin is too dark or too tanned.

Q:Can I use the Flash&Go if I’ve been waxing, tweezing or using depilatory cream?

The Flash&Go is best used when users have not been waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory cream within two weeks of treatment. The Flash&Go targets hair follicles and when a person has been waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory cream there is no hair in the hair follicle for the device to target. Please allow 2 weeks for hair to grow back if you have been waxing tweezing or using depilatory cream.

Q:When will I see results from Silk'n Flash&Go?

As with any light-based or laser hair removal device, results are not immediate. In fact you may not think anything happened all. Most users see noticeable reduction after 4 treatments. Each time you treat, you should increase the energy level. It is important to be patient and consistent during your hair removal process as hair may sometimes appear to be growing back after a treatment, but many of these hairs will typically fallout after two weeks.

It is also important to understand the hair growth cycle. Hair grows in three different stages and only hairs in an active growth stage will be affected by a Silk'n Flash&Go treatment. This is one of the main reasons that multiple treatments are required to achieve the desired result.

Q:Are there side effects from using Silk'n Flash&Go?

When used properly, most users of Silk'n Flash&Go report feeling a slight sensation of heat when the pulse of light is emitted. Side effects and complications, while possible, are not common if Flash&Go is used according to the instructions and precautions included with the device. Please read these instructions before beginning treatment. In clinical studies, a small fraction of users reported some sensation of heat, redness around the hair shaft, and slight swelling. These conditions usually subsided within an hour after treatment. For more information on side effects and how to avoid them, please read the Flash&Go instruction manual.

Q:Can men use Silk'n Flash&Go?

Yes, Flash&Go may be used by men, although hairs on men, especially those on the chest, will require more treatments than those of women to get the desired results.

Q:Why is my hair growing, even though I treated it a week ago?

It is quite common for hair to appear as if it is still growing up to two weeks after a treatment with Flash&Go. This process is known as “ejection” and at around two weeks, you'll see that these hairs simply fall out or slide out with a slight tug (we don't recommend pulling on the hairs – just let them come out naturally). It is also possible that some hairs, due to missed treatment or different stages of growth, were not affected by the Flash&Go treatment. These hairs will be treated in follow-up sessions, hence the need for multiple treatments in order to get the best results.

Q: I've heard that some hairs grow back lighter and finer after light treatment?

This phenomenon is well documented among aestheticians and doctors using light and laser devices for hair removal. It is possible that some hairs will grow back lighter and finer after treatment. Usually, these hairs are a fraction of what was originally there, and continued treatment may have a desirable effect on them.

Q:Why can't I treat myself if I have an “active” suntan?

Do not use Flash&Go on tanned skin or after sun exposure! Tanned skin, particularly following sun exposure, contains large quantities of the pigment melanin. This applies to all skin types and complexions, including those who don't seem to tan quickly. The presence of large quantities of melanin exposes the skin to higher risk of adverse effects when using Flash&Go or any other energy based treatment, including burns, blisters, and skin color changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation).

Q:Are there any warnings or contraindications for Flash&Go? Silk'n Flash&Go has been purposely designed with your safety in mind, but certain conditions may limit your ability to treat yourself with the device. To fully understand these limitations, we recommend that you read the Silk'n Flash&Go warnings and contraindications in the Safety Guide found in the user manual.

Q: Is long-term use of Silk'n Flash&Go dangerous for my skin?

The use of light and laser energy in aesthetic medicine has been well documented for over 15 years in professional peer-reviewed journals, and by well-respected institutions like the Mayo Clinic. These journals and institutions have not reported any side effects or damage from long-term use of light and laser device.

Q: How long should I wait to treat with Silk'n Flash&Go after unprotected exposure to the sun?

As noted in the manual, one should wait 4 weeks before treating with Silk'n Flash&Go after unprotected exposure to the sun. However, if there is ever any uncertainty about sun exposure, please contact our customer care department.

Q: Should I do anything before treating with Silk'n Flash&Go?

Before any Silk'n Flash&Go treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure on the treated area for at least four weeks. A high level UV sunscreen (SPF 50+) will help, as will clothing covering the treated area. The area to be treated should also be cleaned with mild soap and water, and the hairs shaved down to skin level.

Q: Do I need special eye protection when using Silk'n Flash&Go?

Silk'n Flash&Go has been designed with eye safety in mind, and special eye protection is not required. The unique safety mechanism of the Flash&Go applicator assures safe and proper treatment on the target hairs only when the applicator tip is placed firmly on the treatment area. Some flashing light will be seen around the side of the treatment area, but is not harmful and similar to what one sees from a camera flash.

Q: What about Sun Protection?

As the summer weather is upon you, it is easy to underestimate how much sun your skin is exposed to. If you are undergoing Silk'n home hair removal treatments it is very important to remember that you must protect you and your skin from the harmful effects of the sun's rays.

Physicians recommend that patients undergoing any light based treatment series stay out of the sun for several weeks following treatment. Tanned skin and skin with sun exposure contains large quantities of the pigment melanin. The presence of large quantities of melanin exposes the skin to higher risk of adverse effects such as skin discoloration either by darkening the skin surrounding treated areas (hyper-pigmentation) or by lightening it (hypo-pigmentation).

Sun Protection Is important

Extra care should be taken to avoid sun exposure before and after treatments with Silk’n Flash&Go. Acceptable means of sun protection are covering garments or sunscreen (SPF higher than 50) used continuously for 3 weeks before and after treatment.

Recommendations:

  • If you have recently used a Silk'n HPL device, avoid sunlight in the treated area.
  • Stay covered and avoid prolonged exposure of the sun.
  • Use broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreens with SPF 50 or higher.
  • If you have had sun exposure wait 4 weeks until you resume treatment using your Silk'n HPL device. If you have concerns you may consider using test spots (where you flash once and wait 24 hours to see if there are any adverse effects such as redness or above normal heat sensation).

Q:Is Flash & Go For Me?

Silk׳n HPL Technology is the most advanced on the market, providing laser-like results that were once only achievable in physician offices. If you have unwanted hair and the desire to have smooth silky skin, HPL may be the solution for you. As with any hair removal product, whether at a professional clinic or at home, you must follow the recommended hair treatment protocol and understand that it will take a series of treatment for effective results. In addition, please read and consider the information in this page in order to decide whether it’s suitable for you.

Q:What about naturally dark skin complexion?

Do not use Silk׳n Flash&Go on naturally dark skin complexion. Silk׳n Flash&Go removes unwanted hair by selectively addressing hair pigment. Varied quantities of pigment also exist in the surrounding tissue of skin. The quantity of pigment in a particular person’s skin, or your skin complexion, determines the degree of risk they are exposed to using Silk׳n Flash&Go hair removal device.

Consequently treating dark skin with Silk׳n Flash&Go and any other hair removal device, can result in adverse effects such as burns, blisters, and skin color changes (pigmentation changes).

To address this issue, a unique SKIN COLOR SENSOR is embedded in the Silk’n Flash&Go to measure the treated skin complexion at the beginning of each session and occasionally during the session. The SKIN COLOR SENSOR ensures that pulses will only be emitted on suitable skin tones taking the guess work out of treatment.

Avoid Silk'n Flash&Go on naturally dark skin complexion or recently tanned skin.

FaceFX FAQs

Q:What is Home Fractional (HF) Technology?

Home Fractional (HF) Technology is a revolutionary new approach to skin care. Red light therapy has been shown to reduce the look of wrinkles and improve skin texture, tone and color but until now, it hasn't been available for home use. FaceFX makes it safe for non-professional use by dividing the single red light into 24 much smaller Light Emitting Diodes, or LEDs. "Fractional" means "divided into small parts", which is how this technology gets its name.

Q:How Does Silk’n FaceFX Work?

When you touch FaceFX against your face, the 24 small red Light Emitting Diodes (LED) light up. At the same time, FaceFX gently warms your skin to the perfect temperature that allows the red light therapy to stimulate multiple layers of your skin for a total solution:

FaceFX's Active HF technology targets the top layer, addressing fine lines and pores to improve skin texture

FaceFX's Deep HF technology penetrates deeper into the skin to address larger wrinkles and discolored spots

Q:What areas can I treat?

Typical facial areas for FaceFX treatment include around the eyes (crow’s feet), under the eyes, the cheeks, forehead, around the mouth and the neck. When treating around the eyes, it is recommended that you keep your eyes closed. Areas with little skin or fat can heat up faster than areas with more fat and so require shorter treatment times.

Q: Are there any negative side effects?

For a few minutes after treatment, most users will experience a slight redness in the treated area. This may linger for a few hours but is no cause for concern. If at any time during treatment your FaceFX feels too hot for your skin or your skin feels irritated, stop treatment for a few minutes and allow your skin to cool down before resuming.

Q:Can I put on make up immediately after treatment? Yes. Q:Why do I need to use moisturizing cream?

The heat during treatment may cause your skin to feel dry, so the moisturizer will help soothe and hydrate your skin. Apply a small amount to the treated skin areas after each session and massage it gently in circular motions.

Q:What type of moisturizing cream should I use?

You may use your regular facial moisturizing cream. Moisturizing cream with SPF is recommended if you are going to be in the sun as we all know the damaging effects it can have on our skin.

Q:I have dry skin and FaceFX tugs my skin when I use it. What should I do?

If your skin has a tendency to be on the dry side, gliding the device can be a little more challenging. Using Silk'n Serum will alleviate this ‘tugging’ feeling. Wash face as per instructions, apply a small amount of serum on the skin and move the applicator in smooth circular motions. This will help the applicator glide and will also give your skin an even healthier glow. Be sure to clean your device by wiping it with a soft cloth to remove any residue.

Q:I sometimes don't see light during my treatment, is there a problem with my device?

Dry skin can cause inconsistent contact or even a loss of contact. Using Silk'n Serum will alleviate this. Wash your face as per instructions, apply a small amount of serum to the skin and move the applicator in smooth circular motions. Be sure to clean your device by wiping it with a soft cloth to remove any residue.

Q: I live in Canada, will I be charged a cross border tariff?

No, all orders placed in Canada are shipped from Canada and all orders placed in the USA are shipped from the USA.

ReVit FAQs

Q:What is diamond peel exfoliation?

Diamond peel exfoliation is an advanced form of microdermabrasion and is popular in spa‘s and medical aesthetic centers. The treatment removes the outer layer of the skin using light abrasion, which promotes the growth of healthy new cells. The suction also increases blood flow to the epidermis which builds collagen and elastin for younger looking skin.

Q:How long should a Silk‘n ReVit treatment take?

The duration of treatment depends on the individual and the size of the treated area. An average treatment takes 5 minutes.

Q:How soon will I see some improvement?

Responses vary between individuals however you should see some noticeable results after the first week, with continued improvement over time.

Q:Is it normal if I see redness during or after use?

You may experience some redness or skin sensitivity after treatment. This is absolutely normal. The feeling will quickly subside. If during treatment you feel discomfort or redness of the skin – lower the suction setting for the rest of the session. If after that discomfort continues – it‘s recommended that you let your skin rest for a few days.

Q:How often do I need to replace my filter?

This varies per individual. You will know when to change the filter when the device suction doesn’t feel as strong and this is due to the build-up of dead skin cells. When you take the filter out you will be able to see the build up and know to change to a new one.

Q: I live in Canada, will I be charged a cross border tariff?

No, all orders placed in Canada are shipped from Canada and all orders placed in the USA are shipped from the USA.

Q: I have fair skin, why is the skin sensor warning light go off?

Sometimes the skin sensor can be affected by the room in which you are treating. If you are treating in a dark room or in a room with bright light (such as lamps and vanities), this can create a shadow on your skin which will cause the skin sensor warning light to go off. This eliminates the possibility of an accidental flash of light directly towards the user’s eyes.

Q: How can I maximize my treatment results?

  1. Start with clean, shaven skin - NO WAXING.
  2. Progress quickly to higher energy levels - once you have tested all treatment areas on the low energy setting we recommend you move up to higher levels.

Q: How often should I use the device?

Treatment sessions with Silk’n SensEpil should be spaced every two weeks for the first three to four sessions. After that treatments should be done if hairs have grown back, until the desired results are achieved. The total number of sessions varies from person to person, but, in general, most individuals notice a reduction after four treatments, with very good results after six treatments. Most females require eight full sessions. Males tend to have more stubborn and deeper hair and may require ten-twelve treatments. For more information please click here. Is it effective on white, grey or blonde hairs?

Q: Why can’t I treat myself if I have an “active” suntan?

Do not use Silk’n™ on tanned skin or after sun exposure! Tanned skin particularly following sun exposure, contains large quantities of the pigment Melanin. This applies to all skin types and complexions, including those which don’t seem to tan quickly. Q: Should I do anything before treating with Silk’n SensEpil?

Before any Silk’n SensEpil treatment it is important to avoid sun exposure on the treated area for at least four weeks. A high level UV Sun Screen (SPF 50+) will help, as will clothing covering the treated area. The area to be treated should also be cleaned with mild soap and water, and the hairs shaved down to skin level.

Q: Do I need special eye protection when using Silk’n SensEpil?

Silk’n SensEpil has been designed with eye safety in mind, and special eye protection is not required. Q: How should I treat around the lips?

For your safety, it is important to avoid pulsing the SensEpil lamp on your lips as your lip color is darker than the surrounding skin. Your lips may attract more light and this can cause unwanted side effects. To treat around the lip area we suggest using white surgical tape on your lips to protect your lips.

Q: Should I pull the hairs out after treatment?

No, let the hairs gradually fall out on their own. This may take up to 2 weeks.

Q: I live in Canada, will I be charged a cross border tariff?
